CCPA Notice

This notice explains the rights California residents have under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), and how to exercise those rights with MoneyWork. It supplements the Privacy Policy and applies only to consumers who live in California.

Categories of personal information collected

Depending on how the website is used, the following categories of personal information may be collected:

  • Identifiers such as name, email address, phone number, and mailing or zip code details provided through sign-up, opt-in, or contact forms.
  • Customer records such as account details and communication preferences connected to a membership.
  • Commercial information such as the tips, offers, or resources requested or viewed on the site.
  • Internet activity such as pages visited, time spent on the site, links clicked, and general usage patterns.
  • Device information such as browser type, operating system, and IP address.
  • Inferences such as the topics a reader seems most interested in, used to make content more useful.

Sources of personal information

Personal information comes from the following sources:

  • Directly from you, when a form is filled out, a subscription is started, or an email or text reply is sent.
  • Automatically, when the website is browsed, through cookies and similar technologies.
  • From service providers that help run the website, deliver messages, or measure site performance.

How personal information is used

Personal information supports the services offered on this website, including:

  • Sending the tips, alerts, and updates that were requested by email or text message.
  • Creating and managing member accounts.
  • Responding to questions and support requests.
  • Keeping the website secure and preventing fraud or misuse.
  • Understanding how the site is used so content and features can improve.
  • Meeting legal and regulatory obligations.

Sale and sharing of personal information

Personal information collected through this website is not sold, and it is not shared for cross-context behavioral advertising. There has been no sale or sharing of personal information in the preceding 12 months. Should that ever change, this notice will be updated first and an opt-out method will be provided on this page.

Information may be disclosed to service providers under written contracts that limit how they can use it, for example companies that deliver text messages or host the website. These disclosures support business purposes only.

Sensitive personal information

This website does not ask for sensitive personal information such as Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, financial account credentials, precise location, or health details. Any sensitive information sent voluntarily is used only to answer the request it came with and is not used to build profiles.

Retention of personal information

Personal information is kept only as long as needed for the purposes described above, such as the length of a subscription or membership, plus any period required by law. When it is no longer needed, it is deleted or de-identified.

Your rights under the CCPA

  • Right to know. Request details about the personal information collected, used, or disclosed in the past 12 months, including the categories collected and the purposes for collecting them.
  • Right to delete. Request deletion of personal information, subject to certain legal exceptions.
  • Right to correct. Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to opt out of sale or sharing. Direct that personal information not be sold or shared. As noted above, no selling or sharing takes place.
  • Right to limit use of sensitive personal information. Direct that sensitive personal information be used only for limited purposes. As noted above, sensitive information is not collected through this website.
  • Right to non-discrimination. Exercising any of these rights will never result in different prices, service levels, or treatment.

How to exercise these rights

Send a request to [email protected] with the subject line "CCPA Request". Include the right being exercised and the email address or phone number connected to the information, so the request can be verified.

How requests are verified

Before a request is fulfilled, the identity of the person making it must be verified to a reasonable degree of certainty. Verification usually means matching the email address or phone number on the request against the information already on file. If a request comes from an address or number that is not on file, additional confirmation may be requested. A request that cannot be verified will not be fulfilled, and the reason will be explained.

Authorized agents

An authorized agent may submit a request on a consumer's behalf. The agent must provide written permission signed by the consumer, and the consumer may still be asked to verify their own identity directly. Requests from agents without valid proof of permission will be declined.

Response timing

Receipt of a request is confirmed within 10 business days. Verified requests receive a substantive response within 45 calendar days. If more time is needed, the response period may be extended once by another 45 days, and an extension notice will be sent before the original deadline. Responses are provided free of charge up to twice in any 12-month period.

Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track

Because personal information is not sold or shared, there is nothing for an opt-out preference signal to switch off. Browser signals such as Global Privacy Control (GPC) and Do Not Track are treated consistently with that practice.

Updates to this notice

This notice is reviewed at least once every 12 months and may be updated as privacy laws or site practices change. The latest version, with its effective date, will always be posted on this page.
